Tom Robinson, a 25-year-old African American, has been accused of sexually assaulting a young woman named Mayella Ewell. This case was taken to trial where the Ewell family won. The injustice in the courthouse is truly shown when you go into detail regarding the accusation.
- Mayella Ewell was beating on her right side. Which makes accusing Mr. Robinson odd because his left arm is paralyzed. This is important because how would Mr. Robinson be able to reach her right side of the body.
- Later in the Trial, Mr. Robinsons attorney, Atticus Finch, points out Ms. Ewell's father is left handed. Giving him the probable chance that it was her own father that allegedly assaulted her.
- Bob Ewell, Ms. Ewell's father, claims that he saw Mr. Robinson beating her in a shack. It could not have been possible, because Mr. Ewell height is shorter compared to the window. He would not have a clear view of the shack without support.
Using these points, helps to prove that there is something clearly off about the evidence given. Yet Mr. Robinson was found guilty even with holes in the evidence. Leading to believe the decision was made from racial beliefs.
